My Favorite Quote in the Whole Wide World!

Hello everyone,

I hope you had an awesome holiday! What did you guys do? I had to work most of the time, but I was able to see a Salvador Dali Exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). I never realized how much Dali was inspired by Psychoanalysis. It was disturbing and awesome at the same time. I haven't taken as many pictures as I wanted to, but oh well. I'd like to start off this year with my favorite quote ever!

"People discuss my art and pretend to understand as if it were necessary to understand, when it's simply necessary to love."

-Claude Monet

Have a good year everyone!

Marvelous quote!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
------------Proverbs 3:5 :heart:
Our lives weren't made for star wishing,
They're made to make God's wish come true.
Help me make his wish come true.
:iconshearin:
Wow I wish I could have seen that... I like Dali very much!
This quote is great... I remember when I first heard it, I thought "Oh, you're sooooo right, Claude I think I love you!" (I'm still a great admirer of Monet's work today)
That's a thing many people just don't get about art, they can't see that it comes from emotion and that sometimes the fascination can even lie in not-understanding...
I also think what you see in art is different for every single person, everyone perceives it different, and the only thing you have to understand is that you don't have to understand it, just like it.

Excuse my awkward English... some things sound strange here I think o.O

..and a happy new year to you as well.

Oh, that sounds like a wonderful exhibit. I have not seen much of Dali's work around these parts. I have always found his pieces eerily fascinating, a real feast for both the eyes and the mind :D

Hmm, I am unfamiliar with that Monet quote, but 'tis a good one, and quite true. I think :iconshearin: said it best with her comment :)

Have a lovely day :sun:

Happy new year to you too! ^_^
I've been in an exhibition of Dali myself, but it's been 4-5 years ago. His work is excellent and very inspiring, even though I'm not very fond of him as a personality.
And the quote is really lovely! :)

name it;
track it down;
kill it.

hahaha, I know exactly what you mean. I think Dali was an amazing artist, but it's not really my taste. It's a little too intense to hang on the walls in my house.

I love that quote too! It's my most favorite.

eerily fascinating is right! It was definitely an creepy experience. When I walked into that gallery, it was like I was walking into this thoughts. Odd huh?

I love Monet. Definitely one of my favorite artists. I should pick up a biography of him! And you said it right! In a nutshell, art is relative to perception. You like what you like!

And your English is perfect, don't worry. :)
